A.B.U. Zaria : Nigeria
I arrived at Ahmadu Bello University around May 2004 as I had recently started work with the BBC World Service
Trust ( now
BBC Media Action ) unit who had started operations in Kaduna late 2003.

I had been in country for about a year working for
Volunteer Services Overseas and spending quite a lot of my
time working and assisting various volunteers with the technical aspects of their projects, and working at the
Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.

The BBC needed a project manager to assist with the rebuild of the media centre on the ABU campus, providing
two control rooms, a computer centre and training room. The project went from taking the building back to a shell,
to a full fit out in about a year, with students using the facility about six months into the build.
